Blended Learning

Leadership Development in Facilitating Strategic Conversations
In this ongoing project, I am working with a client as a freelance, remote designer to develop a dynamic learning experience in Articulate Rise that incorporates self-reflection in an interactive workbook that is embedded throughout the delivery of frameworks for facilitating strategic conversations. In order to rapidly develop a full set of courses, I chose to use Rise; however, I needed to compensate for lack of open-ended entries provided by the software. Therefore, I designed the workbook in Articulate storyline, and embedded it throughout the Rise course. The workbook uses Javascript to produce a printable HTML document that learners can download to save their reflections to bring what they have learned back to their organizations after completing the training. The sample included here is 20% of the Storyline workbook, and I will update the link when the course is complete.

Training Frito-Lay Supervisors in “Coaching and Developing your Hourly Team in the One Best Way“
This participant guide was created to supplement Instructor Led Training (ILT) and provide a consistent resource learners can look back on while they are in the job. This digital resource features unique and interactive visualizations to master the process for best orders, building an efficient schedule, managing hours to schedule, and developing your team for supervisors of Frito-Lay hourly delivery team members.

Enabling Managers’ and Owners’ to Leverage Restaurant Customer Survey Reports for Operational Improvement
In this participant guide, annual conference audience members (franchise restaurant owners and managers) are able to work through a software simulation of the Survey Management Group’s software to create reports. The simulation works to equip users to drill-down into the data to reveal opportunities for improvement in overall customer satisfaction. Additionally, the guide includes polls to facilitate audience participation and the provide the opportunity to the presenter, the VP of Franchise Operations, to tailor his presentation to the prior experience the participants bring with them to the presentation. Furthermore, the presentation doubles as an asynchronous learning experience for continuing reference with the omission of the polling activities.

Providing Interactive Presentations to Train Healthcare Workers in Australia
VETnexus is a vocational education consulting and support service that works with companies to leverage government financial incentives for continuing and Competency-Based Education (CBE) in Australia’s private sector. We worked together to develop a series of 33 interactive H5P presentations that could be used in a blended learning environment as online learning experiences and in instructor-led classrooms to teach healthcare professionals first aid, workplace health and safety, communication skills, culture and diversity, and other soft skills.
Asynchronous Learning

Preparing Restaurant Catering Managers for Success in the Field: Interactive Learning and Branching Scenarios
To support an initiative to provide catering experts at corporate and franchise restaurants, I developed three training modules to reinforce catering manager’s understanding of the menu, skills to assist customers in the ordering process, and behaviors when delivering the orders. The courses use an instructional mixture of activities to increase the retention of knowledge and quick scenarios to prepare them for interactions with customers.

Training K-12 Education Leaders in Whole School Sustainability: Weaving Interaction to Produce Artifacts that Demonstrate the Learner’s Experience
Creating the Leading Green Schools course was a unique opportunity for our team at Auburn Online to work with the Green Schools National Network (GSNN). I collaborated to design a unique experience that weaves scaffolded opportunities for self-reflection, actionable planning, and the creation of idealistic vision boards throughout the program. At the end of the program, participants are provided with artifacts that represent their work to implement change towards whole school sustainability.

Creative Approaches to Instructional Software Simulations in a Franchise Restaurant
The franchise restaurant business uses a variety of software to assist in labor, product, and sales management. In this series of 20 simulations, I recreated the Altametrics Enterprise Office system in a low-stakes environment, framed by small in-restaurant scenarios, to facilitate the mastery of business processes in the business management software. I managed this project independently as the Lead Instructional Designer and completed the overall user interface, visuals, voice overs, and programming for all of the asynchronous learning opportunities.

Search Committee Training with Interactive Video Scenarios
At Auburn Online, our team worked with the HR department to create a branching video scenario to reinforce fair hiring practices and to promote search committee members attracting, hiring and retaining talented and diverse faculty and staff. We combined these scenarios with an emphasis on compliance and digital badging to create a learning environment where competencies could be easily transferred to the real-world experience of serving on the committee.
